The lofty Langtang Region is one of Nepal's most popular trekking areas. Ancient times saw traders bartering salt and mountain goats on their way to Tibet. More recently developed by the Tourism for Rural Poverty Alleviation Program, the "Tamang Heritage Trail" highlights traditional mountain cultures amid stunning highpass landscapes. Combined with a trip to Lumbini, the birthplace of the Buddha and the unforgettable Chitwan National Park for a touch of game viewing, this journey encompasses the very best of Nepal.

itinerary:

Days 1 - 2  Lumbini

Be greeted at the Sunauli Border by our local expert before transferring to Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha. Wander through the tranquil gardens and absorb the serene atmosphere surrounding this historic place of peace.

Days 3 - 5  Kathmandu

Explore the Heritage sites of Kathmandu; Boudha, Pashupatinath, Swoyambhunath and Kathmandu's very own Durbar Square. Dip into the heritage of Kathmandu Valley staying overnight at Bhaktapur and visiting Changunarayan Temple and Patan Durbar Square before returning to the capital.

Day 6  Syabrubesi

Super scenic bus ride to Syabru besi (1982m). Enjoy a night at this charming village nestled in the foot the mountains.

Day 7  Gatlang

Trek from Syabrubesi to the fantastic view point of Ganesh Himal, Gosaikunda range and the Goljang valley. Descend into the valley toward a beautiful Tamang village. Enjoy a traditional welcome and join the Syabru dance.

Day 8  Tatopani

Trek further into Tamang territory stopping for lunch by the Bhotekoshi River. Cross the hanging bridge and ascend further to the natural hot springs of Tatopani. Absolve your aches and pains in the curative waters.

Day 9   Thuman

Climb higher to Nagthali Danda (3300m) where the open grassland gives way to amazing views of snow covered Himalayas. Visit the hilltop Gompa and continue onto Thuman, a friendly Tibetan influenced Tamang village who love to sing and dance.

Day 10  Briddim

Follow in the footsteps of ancient traders enroute to Tibet. Pass the historic Nepal-Tibet border at Rasuwaghadi on the riverbank. Stay with a typical Tamang family, enjoy their traditional food, indigenous wine and warm hospitality. Take part in village life, participate in rituals, local crafts and cultural practices.

Day 11  Syabrubesi

After a hearty breakfast and heartfelt farewell, descend to Syabrubesi and rest.

Days 12 - 13  Kathmandu

Back to Kathmandu to explore the streets!

Days 14 - 16  Chitwan National Park

At Chitwan National Park delve deep into the jungle. Enjoy the ride in a traditional dug-out canoe. Walk through the forest with our field experts providing local insights into Chitwan's ecosystem. Sit atop an elephant for a unique perspective of the forest floor. Visit the Elephant dung paper project, an initiative to consere local Tharu culture. Try your hand scrubbing an elephant or match the footwork of the Tharu folk dance.

Day 17  Depart Nepal

This journey concludes today. You may choose to link up with the GREEN Circuit's Eastern Himalaya sector either by flight or overland. We are happy to facilitate this, please express your interest on enquiry/booking.
